Butterbur is another herb that can remedy migraines. Because it’s part of the ragweed family, it’s not recommended if you have seasonal allergies, but others can benefit from 75mg of butterbur extract twice a day.

Magnesium

Increase your magnesium intake, either by eating more salad, soy or nuts or by taking an oral supplement of no more than 600mg daily. Some studies indicate that combining magnesium with an Omega-3 fish oil supplement can decrease monthly migraines by nearly 40 percent.

Massage

Massage is a great way to relieve muscle spasms that contribute to migraine pain. Even if you don’t have someone to knead your neck for you, massaging your own scalp and instep with your thumbs can help.

Acupressure

Acupressure can reduce headache pain. You can try it yourself when your next migraine strikes, by placing steady pressure on the webbed area between your thumb and index finger–you’ll be surprised by the relief it gives you.
