Natural bronchitis cures
Bronchitis is the inflammation of the air passages, which are located within the lungs. In most instances, bronchitis starts with a flu or cold that worsens once the lungs become inflamed. This causes the mucous that lines the lungs to become irritated and drip as mucous production increases. This causes coughing and other flu-like symptoms, including fever, headache and sinus inflammation. Before seeing a doctor, try some home remedies to see if you can cure the problems on your own.
Steam Inhalation Treatments
If you are suffering with coughing and wheezing due to the flu or bronchitis, try this home remedy. Fill up your bathroom sink with very hot water and plug the stopper. Place two herbal tea bags, preferably chamomile or mint, into the water. As the sink fills up, place a clean bathroom towel over your head and lean over the sink. Press the edges of the bathroom towel around the sink to create a seal around your face. Inhale slowly and deeply, keeping your head just above the water level. The steam will open the passages in your lungs and relax your chest, eliminating wheezing and coughing. Repeat as necessary every few hours.
Before bed, place a few drops of peppermint oil on your chest and under your nose. You can purchase peppermint oil at your local health food store or drugstore. As you inhale, the peppermint oil will absorb into your lungs and loosen your nasal passages. Apply every few hours as needed for congestion and cough.
Oil of Oregano
Oil of oregano is a concentrated oil derived from the oregano plant that aids in the clearing of congestion from the lungs and sinuses. Put two drops directly on your tongue and follow it with a glass of water. The taste will be strong — if you are unable to stand the taste, place two drops of oil of oregano into a glass of water or juice, mix thoroughly and drink. After several minutes, you will be able to feel your body expectorating the mucous and phlegm. Continue using every day for one week in order to get the most benefit from the oil.
