East West School of Planetary Herbology

The East West School of Planetary Herbology offers professional and certified herbalist courses that combine Ayurveda, Western herbalism and Chinese herbal medicine. The school was founded by Michael Tierra, who also founded the American Herbalist’s Guild (AHG). The AHG is the only institution in the United States that offers accreditation of professional herbalists. Tuition for the professional herbalist course is $1,599. Check the school’s website for occasional tuition discounts. You must complete the professional herbalist course to be eligible for the certified herbalist course.

California College of Ayurveda

The California College of Ayurveda offers Ayurveda training in three levels. Level one is the Ayurvedic Health Education Certification. Level two teaches Clinical Ayurvedic Theory, and level three consists of two six-month internships to become a certified Clinical Ayurvedic Specialist. The college also hosts workshops and intensives in Ayurvedic massage and body therapy, Panchakarma, Ayurvedic yoga therapy and Ayurvedic herbalism in traditional and distance learning formats. Tuition is $4,300 for level one, $5,800 for level two and $6,200 for both internships.
