Home Remedies For Canine Sinusitis

Canine sinusitis is an inflammation of the lining of the nasal cavity or sinuses. All dogs are susceptible to sinusitis, but depending on the dog, it can be due to various causes. Although veterinary care is always recommended, since canine sinusitis can become a serious ailment, there are several home remedies available as well.

Administering Medication

If the dog has been given veterinary care, administering the proper medication at the proper time each day is a good start to remedy the sinus problem.

Vitamin C

Vitamin C can be used as a remedy at the first signs of sinusitis. Zinc, rosehips and garlic can also be given in addition to the vitamin C. The dog should begin to show an improvement within 4 days.

Colloidal Silver

Colloidal silver, which is a liquid suspension of microscopic silver particles, is a powerful natural antibiotic. Colloidal silver has been shown to make a canine cold disappear completely.

Elderberry Extract

Elderberry extract can be used to prevent a canine sinusitis outbreak if given at an early enough time.

Mist Vaporizer

Placing a mist vaporizer in the area that the dog sleeps may prove to be beneficial in not only preventing canine sinusitis but also in treating it. Eucalyptus oil can be added to the vaporizer to provide relief to dogs with noses that are clogged.

Though a dog’s appetite may be suppressed because of its sickness, it is best to try and give the dog as much boiled chicken and brown rice as possible to help boost its immune system.
